Daily Telegraph House and Garden Fair 07

ISOS Collection is to participate in its first consumer exhibition, the Daily Telegraph House and Garden Show from the 27th June to 30th June 2007. Find them at Designers: the next generation, stand number 77 at Olympia.

Under the direction of Furniture Works, the ISOS Collection 2007 unites some of London's best design talent and manufacturing capability with an enviable list of many of the UK’s finest contemporary designers including Tomoko Azumi, Richard Shed & Sam Johnson (Studio 212), Mark Gabbertas, Max Lamb, Tom Price, Martin Grierson, Wills Watson & Associates, &Made, Conscious Forms and Massimo Fenati. The range of items, first launched in 2005, now includes mirrors, upholstery, occasional and dining furniture, cabinets, lighting and rugs. The collection has been designed to sit together as a range of complimentary products, however each item has the ability to work as a stand-alone piece.

Launching for 2007 are two new lighting designs from Tomoko Azumi and Conscious Forms. Conscious Forms have created ORB lights. The lights come in white terrazzo, a poured concrete with an aggregate which shines when polished – flat surfaces within the orb design means the lights can sit in a variety of ways. Iconic designer Tomoko Azumi’s MILLEFEUILLE lights are influenced by delicate layers of filo pastry as slithers of Japanese paper are incorporated to create a completely unique element, as the end-user is invited to crinkle each piece to create their own bespoke light, allowing them to dictate the overall style and type of light diffusion they require.

Extending the Dune panelled cabinet and sideboard designs by Martin Grierson, 2007 sees a new sideboard design from &Made. Created from sweet chestnut, the design takes the traditional craft of wood turning and subverts it into an exiting new piece of furniture, as the legs dictate the overall style of the object, as touch panel drawers mirror the curved silhouettes of each support.

ELIOT is a range of die cut felt rugs from Massimo Fenati. Named after his cat that loved lying on rugs, ELIOT comes in three distinct designs, and a variety of colours. “Holland Park” offers a distinct fantasy element with a garden silhouette running down each edge – other geometric designs include “Circles” and “Art Nouveau”.

Mark Gabbertas has designed a new series of occasional tables entitled ON THE CORNER. The table designs combine formed legs with a walnut veneer, and a glass top. The tables reveal a striking new innovation, as two seemingly oppositional materials are UV bonded with no apparent seams.

Studio 212’s original sofa design has also been adapted for 2007 to incorporate softer curved edges and a new tactile yet hard wearing fabric, a warm red flecked tweed by Bute.

The ISOS Collection is supported and funded by Furniture Works which aims to establish itself as a central support agency for London’s furniture industry, with a focus on innovation in manufacturing. Set up by Metropolitan Works, Furniture Works is funded by the City Fringe Partnership, who have secured finance from the London Development Agency.
